A bed has a name. A core makes the decision. So the catalogue is set out by core, and each section below is drawn to the millimetre it is built to — the strata to scale, the adhesive at its true one millimetre.

Viscoelastic

It is not memory. It is delay.

Memory foam does not remember the shape of your body. It forgets it slowly — over six seconds — because its glass transition is engineered to sit at the temperature of whatever is pressing on it. The foam is firm where you are not and soft where you are, and you are the reason.

Pocket

The core that answers instantly.

Steel returns the energy you put into it at the moment you stop putting it in. Nothing is late. Nothing is kept. Each coil is sewn into its own pocket and answers to the load directly above it and to no other.

III

Hybrid

Both answers, in one section.

A viscoelastic surface on an elastic structure. The top is late by design; the core beneath it is not. Two materials that disagree about time, held one millimetre apart.

Compressed

Rolled to a fifth of its volume, and back again.

An open-cell foam is ninety-six per cent gas, and gas can be pressed out and let back in. Rolled, boxed, shipped by the container, and at full height again within hours of the box being cut.
